While the game does show its mobile origins, as a PC title it does pass muster for the most part. With competent controls transferred over from the mobile touch interface, with multi hotkey / drag and drop selection and the like.
While some abilities have hotkeys though… other do not, which is a strange oversight. They are also not rebindable, which is never a perfect solution.
That said, the gameplay is smooth and stable, especially the multiplayer shines through in solid matchmaking, latency and smooth gameplay. Which is very much a necessity with how fast paced the title is. The visuals here also help a lot with keeping it clean and viable even in its fast pace.
While i’m very much not a fan of the dragged out nature of the single player, that gets repetitive very fast and drags on for endless ages. I am very much a fan of multiplayer and its competitive nature.
With short under 5 minute matches, it provides a lot of variety in reactive gameplay, that while not very deep or possessing a high skill ceiling, is still lots of fun. With a deep variety of heroes there is quite a bit of flexibility in gameplay and it allows you to do build on that.
That said, the balance could use some work and the core gameplay is very heavy on the snowball effect with limited comeback potential.
While the game has been out on mobile for a while, its debut on PC does open it to a more demanding RTS market, and while the game is very far from a deep and rich RTS – it is still a polished and well put together RTS-Lite experience.
