RiME is a weird mix of puzzles, platforming and storytelling, that appears to fit together, but always has a few gaps where you can spot the flaws.
the big bad here is twofold: Performance is.. spotty. While I personally have had few issues, those few I’ve had make me do a double take when the game stutters for a moment, or FPS suddenly get halved mid-platforming segment. Quite annoying to say the least.
That said, I was fully enthralled by the games art-style, that mostly reminded me of a world ripe for exploring and sightseeing – and that fits to a T. With the games vista, locations, canyons and caverns all around inviting you to look, but often not to touch.
The games puzzles are a bit of a mixed bag – enjoyable if you view them as an experience, and less if you view them as a challenge to overcome, as they are not very challenging at all. Each can be solved in a pretty straight forward manner when you figure out the games moon logic demands.
Further, while this is an enjoyable experience, if a bit of a mixed bag – the real enjoyment of the game comes from the way the story culminates. Provides bits and pieces hidden around the levels that all come to a head from seeming nowhere and tie every note together immensely well.
While not a challenging game, its an immensely enjoyable story and gameplay experience.
